Public plea over Iron Bridge repair work funding

English Heritage has launched a crowd-funding campaign to help save Iron Bridge.

Repair work has begun on the 238-year-old structure in Shropshire at a cost of £3.6m.

Most of that sum has already been raised and includes a donation of one million euros by a German cultural body.

It is hoped the public will stump up the remaining £25,000 needed to complete the conservation programme.
