Ipswich Station roof climber causes rail chaos

A man who climbed on to a platform roof at Ipswich Station caused a day of travel chaos on the Norwich to London rail line and some local services.

The man, who has not been named, scaled the roof during the morning rush hour and stayed there for seven hours.

He was taken away for questioning after being persuaded to climb down a ladder and was led away by police after a scuffle on the platform.

British Transport Police spokesman Inspector Alan Judd said the incident had caused massive disruption and but their prime concern had been for the safety of the man, the public and police.
