Sudbury's free car park users face £25 fines

Hundreds of drivers have been fined for parking offences at a car park where the first three hours' parking is free.

The council-run car park at Sudbury in Suffolk penalises people who do not display a ticket on their windscreen.

Last year, 2,851 people were fined £25 by Babergh District Council for failing to display a ticket on Station Road long stay car park. Others have been fined for failing to park properly within the allocated bays.

A businessman believes shoppers are being put off the market town by the car park regime.

Mike Liggins reports.
