Weapons found in Wyverstone cottage search

A parish council chairman has been charged with firearms offences after an AK-47 assault rifle and Uzi machine gun were found by police searching a cottage in Suffolk.

James Arnold, 49, of Potash Lane, Wyverstone, is due to appear at Ipswich Crown Court on 1 May.

He is also accused of being in possession of a self-loading rifle gun and a bolt-action shotgun.

Police said they were initially called to the house over an allegation of assault, and then carried out a search warrant.
