Brentwood anti-Islamic tweet Tory stands down

People living in an Essex town said a Conservative election candidate made the right decision after standing down following a row over homophobic and anti-Islamic tweets.

David Bishop was standing in the local council elections in Brentwood.

He has also left the Tory party, saying it was to "avoid any further embarrassment."
