Middlesbrough tackles beggars in the town centre

Middlesbrough Council has announced a clampdown on beggars.

The authority has sought anti-social behaviour orders against five people as it vows to drive beggars out of Middlesbrough town centre.

The council claimed beggars, the majority of whom are criminals, can make up to £200 a day.

But charities claim the council is targeting vulnerable people.
