Tumour patient joins picket line

Margaret Toase declined treatment for a brain tumour, instead opting to stand with union colleagues outside the Teesside hospital which she regularly attends.

The veteran union activist, who is a nurse at Middlesbrough's James Cook University Hospital, joined thousands of public sector workers who were striking over plans to curb pensions.

She told the BBC's Peter Harris she would not cross a picket line, even to receive cancer treatment.
