Motorist describes night stranded in snow on A68
Snow storms across northern England left tens of thousands of homes and businesses without power and dozens of motorists stranded in their cars.
Northern Powergrid said strong winds, heavy ice and snow brought down overhead power lines in the North East and Yorkshire affecting power supplies to customers.
The weather resulted in several major roads being closed as high winds led to drifting snow, especially on higher ground.
Kevin Maddox told BBC Look North's Steph Lloyd how he survived on a take-away pizza when he got stuck on the A68 near Consett in County Durham.
