London helicopter crash pilot flew North rescue missions

The pilot killed in the London helicopter crash had worked for the Great North Air Ambulance and flew dozens of life-saving missions in the North.

Pete Barnes, 50, also flew the Traffic and Travel helicopter for Metro Radio on Tyneside.

In 2004 he rescued a motorist trapped on Stanhope Ford in County Durham by landing on the car roof.

Former colleagues have been paying tribute to him, as Jill Archbold reports.
