Bridie Jackson and the Arbour to play Glastonbury Festival

A band from Newcastle has won a competition to play at this summer's Glastonbury Festival.

The four-piece instrumental band, Bridie Jackson and the Arbour, beat 8,000 entries to win the festival's Emerging Talent competition to play on the Acoustic and Avalon stages.

The band, who have been compared to the likes of Bjork and Fleet Foxes, is made up of Jenny Nendick, Carol Bowden, Rachel Cross and Bridie Jackson.

Headlining this year's festival are Arctic Monkeys, The Rolling Stones and Mumford and Sons.
