Stanley bus crash driver: I thought I was going to die

A bus driver involved in a head-on smash that injured 28 children has told how he thought he was going to die.

Paul Stephenson was driving the double-decker that was in collision with a single-decker bus in Stanley, County Durham, on Tuesday.

The 54-year-old, of Annfield Plain, who has worked for bus company Go North East for more than 15 years, was treated at Newcastle's Royal Victoria Infirmary and released on Thursday.

He has been praised for putting the safety of his passengers first. Look North's chief reporter Chris Stewart spoke to him.
