Eastgate quarry becomes set of Beowulf TV drama
A former limestone quarry in County Durham has been taken over by the cast and crew of a new fantasy TV drama.
The quarry at Eastgate, in Weardale, which served the Blue Circle cement works, forms the backdrop for ITV's new production Beowulf, described as a "spin-off" from an epic poem written more than 1,000 years ago.
Star of the show, Hartlepool actor Kieran Bew, said the team was "spoilt for choice with the scenery in the area".
