Flooded Corbridge home to be lifted 2.6m off the ground

A family flooded out of their dream home by Storm Desmond are taking an extraordinary step to make sure it never happens again.

They have been granted planning permission to raise their whole house by 2.6m (8.5ft).

Only a handful of homeowners in the UK have done this and it is thought the house in Corbridge, Northumberland, will be raised the highest.
