Alice Ruggles' parents describe learning of her murder

The parents of murdered Alice Ruggles have described hearing about her death and say they want to avoid other people becoming victims of violence.

Miss Ruggles, 24, was found fatally injured at her home in Rawling Road, Gateshead, in October.

Lance Corporal Trimaan "Harry" Dhillon, 26, denied murder at Newcastle Crown Court, saying she had fallen on a carving knife during an argument. He was jailed for a minimum of 22 years.

Miss Ruggles' mother Sue Hills said: "Ultimately we want to help other parents and other girls who the same thing might be happening to."
