Petrol bombs thrown in Burnopfield stand-off

Armed police have surrounded a street where a man has been throwing petrol bombs at officers.

The stand-off, on Lintz Terrace in Burnopfield, started on Tuesday with negotiators working through the night talking to the man.

More than a dozen officers are at the scene and nobody has been hurt.

Durham Police said the force is "committed to a safe resolution and hope to achieve this as soon as possible".

The BBC understands man in the house alerted the police himself.
