North Yorkshire coast 'among most visited destinations'

More British holidaymakers visit the North Yorkshire coast than any other part of the country outside London, according to figures from Visit England.

The tourist body looked at trips made to English towns and cities over a three-year period from 2013 to 2015.

The Scarborough region, covering other coastal towns and moorland, had on average 1.4m trips per year over the period, with 3.7m to London, and 594,000 to Skegness.
