White Scar Cave: 'Exceptional' flood closes attraction
A torrent of water engulfed a show cave in the Yorkshire Dales when overnight flooding hit the region.
In video shared on social media, water was seen rushing through the visitor entrance of White Scar Cave, Ingleton, and down the steps to the B6255.
North Yorkshire County Council said heavy rain had hit the area, with standing water on a number of roads.
White Scar Cave includes the 90m (295ft) long Battlefield Cavern, which is one of the longest cave chambers in Britain.
Cave manager John Connaughton said water started to flow out of the cave entrance at 08:20 BST and called it an "exceptional flood".
He said: "I've been here for 31 years, and this is the worst I've seen it at the moment."
