Mary Lou McDonald suspended from Irish parliament

Sinn Féin deputy leader Mary Lou McDonald has been suspended from the Irish parliament for refusing to take her seat.

Ms McDonald had asked a question to the deputy prime minister about the controversial issue of water charges.

She refused to sit down after the question was answered, and was asked to leave the chamber.

When she did not do so, the sitting was suspended.
