Campbell says McGuinness's past should not be rewritten

The DUP MP Gregory Campbell has said that while he recognises Martin McGuinness's "contribution to peace" it is important not to ignore the earlier parts of his life.

Mr Campbell was speaking for the first time since the former first minister's death on Tuesday.

He told BBC's The View programme his life had been a "complicated picture," and the past should not be re-written.

The former IRA leader's funeral took place in Londonderry on Thursday.
