Spending Review: David Cameron 'intervenes on defence'
The budget for the Ministry of Defence has been finalised after a personal intervention by Prime Minister David Cameron.
The MoD is unlikely to see a reduction in spending of more than 7%, the BBC has learned.
Ministers have also settled the education budget, which will see spending on schools in England protected from the cuts.
