William Hague: UK willing to help Ireland
Foreign Secretary William Hague has told the BBC's Matt Frei in Washington ''it is in our national interest to be helpful towards Ireland''.
Mr Hague added the Irish and British economies ''are closely connected''.
The Irish government has admitted for the first time that emergency financial help might be needed to ease the country's financial crisis.
Teams from the International Monetary Fund, the European Central Bank, and the European Commission are travelling to Dublin to consider a bail-out.
