Straw defends Labour's role in Megrahi release
Former foreign secretary Jack Straw has defended the Labour government's role in the release of Lockerbie bomber Abdelbaset Ali al-Megrahi.
Mr Straw played down the "facilitation" that was offered to Libya in their appeal to have Mr Megrahi released as "factual advice and nothing else".
A report by Sir Gus O'Donnell, the country's most senior civil servant, said there was an underlying desire of the then Labour UK government to see Mr Megrahi released before he died.
