Labour victory in Barnsley as Dan Jarvis elected as MP
Labour candidate Dan Jarvis has won the Barnsley Central by-election.
Mr Jarvis accused the Coalition government of "reckeless policies and unfair cuts".
Support for the Liberal Democrats plummeted, with the party relegated into sixth place after having come second at last year's general election.
The election was caused by the resignation of the former Labour MP, Eric Illsley, who pleaded guilty to falsely claiming £14,000 in parliamentary expenses.
