Bill to regulate Westminster lobbying after expenses scandal

The Politics Show has learned a bill to regulate the business of political lobbying will be introduced this year as the coalition government pledges to clean up politics in the wake of the expenses scandal.

Lobbyists work for companies, charities and other groups to influence political decisions through contacts at Westminster, but it is not clear how the new framework could regulate their action, or who it will cover.

Susana Mendonça spoke to Ian Hall of Public Affairs News, Francis Ingham, of the Public Relations Consultants Association, former Fabian Society general secretary Michael Jacobs, and Reform director Andrew Haldenby.
