PM Cameron sends condolences to the Japanese people

David Cameron has sent his condolences to the people of Japan, following an 8.9 magnitude earthquake in the north-east of the country.

He called the quake a "terrible reminder of the destructive power of nature".

The prime minister made the comments in Brussels while attending an emergency summit of EU leaders to discuss Libya.
