Libya: UK officers 'in line with UN resolution'

Sending British military officers to Libya to advise rebels fighting Col Muammar Gaddafi's forces is "in line with the UN resolution", according to William Hague.

The foreign secretary said "about a dozen" officers would provide logistics and intelligence training in a UK and French operation.

He said the officers would not be involved in any fighting and the move was needed to help protect civilians.
