Clegg: 'We need to dust ourselves down and move on'

Results so far in the local elections suggest that the Liberal Democrats are facing their worst defeat since the 1980s.

In the votes counted, they have lost more than 200 councillors in local authorities across England.

The Lib Dem leader, Nick Clegg, said party members needed to "dust themselves down and move on".
