Theresa May defends police cuts as riots guidance issued

Home Secretary Theresa May has defended cuts to the police, saying "what matters is not the total number of officers employed, but the number deployed".

She insisted that even with cuts, forces would be able to deploy in the numbers needed to quell any further disturbances.
