William Hague: Talks to support a stable Libya

A key summit on Libya's future, hosted by French President Nicolas Sarkozy and UK Prime Minister David Cameron, is set to get under way in Paris.

About 60 countries are to attend the "Friends of Libya" forum in Paris on Thursday afternoon, along with UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon

Foreign Secretary William Hague says the talks will focus on how to support "a stable Libya".

He said: "It's an opportunity for the National Transitional Council to set out their own plans - Libyans own plans - for the future of their country and how they are going to stabilise their country.

"And then set it on a path to hopefully a free and democratic and inclusive future."
