Sport minister: Why West Ham Olympic deal fell through
The deal to award West Ham football club the Olympic Stadium after the London 2012 Games has collapsed, the government has confirmed.
Negotiations were called off because of delays due to a legal challenge by Spurs. Instead, the stadium will be modified and leased for an annual rent.
However, West Ham could still end up using the stadium as a tenant.
Hugh Robertson, the Minister for Sport and the Olympics, said it was important to overcome the ''legal paralysis'' surrounding the issue.
