Eurosceptics: UKIP's Lord Hesketh and Andrea Leadsom MP

Lord Hesketh who left the Conservatives for UKIP said the largest UK-wide political parties were "incapable of dealing with" the issue of a UK referendum on Europe.

But Conservative MP Andrea Leadsom - one of 81 MPs who defied David Cameron to vote in favour of a referendum on Britain's relationship with Europe last week - explained whey she would not follow the handful of Tories who had crossed over to UKIP.

She said the newly-elected Tory MPs were a "Eurosceptic bunch" who favoured re-negotiating the UK's relationship with the EU, but not leaving it.
