May defends deportation guidance to judges

Home Secretary Theresa May wants judges to be given new guidelines on how to interpret Article 8 of the Human Rights Act - the right to a family life.

She told BBC One's Andrew Marr show that the government was drafting new guidelines, for approval by parliament, emphasising that the right to a family life is not sacrosanct and can be overridden to prevent crime, protect national security and safeguard the rights of others.
