Conservative Anna Soubry: 'Some merit in Nick Clegg claim'

A Conservative health minister has backed comments by Nick Clegg that the coalition made a mistake in cutting back capital spending when it came into office.

The deputy prime minister told The House magazine that ministers now realised investment in infrastructure was crucial for the economic recovery.

Speaking on the BBC's Question Time, Anna Soubry said there was "some merit" in Mr Clegg's comments from the early days of the coalition, but that subsequently, "phenomenal investment" had been made.
