Mansion tax: 'Strong case for levy'

Labour will re-introduce the 10 pence starting rate of tax scrapped by Gordon Brown in 2008 if it is re-elected, Ed Miliband has announced.

The move, worth about £2 a week for people, would be funded by a "mansion tax" on £2m properties, he said.

The chief secretary to the treasury, Danny Alexander, told the BBC he thought there was a strong case for an additional levy.
