Miliband: Labour to 'redouble efforts' to win back voters

David Cameron has admitted the Conservatives' third place in Eastleigh by-election was disappointing but described it as a "mid-term protest".

The Liberal Democrats held the seat but their majority was halved, with UKIP grabbing thousands more votes to finish second.

Labour came fourth with an almost unchanged share of the vote.

The party's leader, Ed Miliband, dismissed suggestions that this was a disaster for his party.
