Tories could quit Europe - Theresa May

The Conservative Party will consider leaving the European Convention on Human Rights after the next election, Home Secretary Theresa May has said.

Speaking at an event organised by the ConservativeHome website, she said that if elected, "the next government will scrap the Human Rights Act."

She told the audience: "I want to be clear that all options, including leaving the Convention altogether, should be on the table."
