Did Margaret Thatcher help the cause of women?

Margaret Thatcher achieved a unique place in history as the UK's first, and so far only, female prime minister.

Her election forged a path for women in politics and arguably raised their aspirations in the workplace.

However while in power she froze child benefit, and criticised working mothers for creating a "crèche generation'' .
