Police commissioners - six months after elections

The arrival of police commissioners across England and Wales was billed as the biggest shake up since Sir Robert Peel invented the modern police force in the 1820s.

Giles Dilnot reviewed what has happened since they were elected six months ago, after a record low turnout at the polling stations,

Dozens of new commissioners were elected to office and took on the work of the former police authorities.
