Schools told to control uniform costs
Schools minister David Laws is to issue new guidance to control the cost of school uniforms, as the Lib Dem conference opens in Glasgow.
Schools in England will be told to end the practice of using a single uniform supplier, enabling hard-pressed parents to shop around.
The announcement has been timed to highlight the Lib Dems' work in government as party members meet for their autumn conference.
