Ed Balls speaks out about having a stammer

The Shadow Chancellor Ed Balls has spoken out about the difficulties of having a stammer.

The Starfish Project - a charity which helps people with stammers - found that many sufferers are facing a ''postcode lottery'' when it comes to treatment.

The charity found evidence some people are waiting more than 17 months for help.

Ed Balls told BBC Radio 5 live's Shelagh Fogarty: "The pressure would mean I couldn't get my words out and I wouldn't be able to speak... For me it was something I worried about a lot."
