George Osborne offers ex-miners 'coal or cash' plan
Former pit workers have been offered a financial boost by Chancellor George Osborne.
Mr Osborne said that 400 recently made redundant miners would receive a free delivery of coal every year worth £1,300 or £600 in cash instead, and 1,000 retired workers will also get help under a concessionary fuel scheme dating back to the 1980s.
