Maria Miller expenses row 'damaging credibility' of parliament

The Work and Pensions Secretary, Iain Duncan Smith, has said he would support changes to the way MPs' expenses are overseen.

Mr Duncan Smith said MPs should do "whatever it takes" to stop rows over their expenses "eating away at the credibility of Parliament".

Culture Secretary Maria Miller was ordered to apologise after a committee found her attitude to an inquiry into her expenses had breached the parliamentary code of conduct.

Lord Tebbit, the former Conservative Party Chairman, has called on Mrs Miller to resign.

Gary O'Donoghue reports.
