Harman: 'No quick fix for UK's problems'

Labour deputy leader Harriet Harman has said that a "long-term plan" is needed to address problems in the UK, such as pay falling behind the cost of living and a lack of skilled workers.

Speaking to BBC Breakfast, she said: "There is no quick fix to the problems there are."

Her comments came as leader Ed Miliband prepared to unveil a 10-year plan to make Britain a "world class country" at his party's annual conference in Manchester.

The BBC understands he will also announce a spending boost for the NHS in England to be paid for by a tax on homes worth more than £2m.
