Clacton by-election: Statistics of Douglas Carswell's win

Douglas Carswell's win in the Clacton by-election was the largest increase in votes by any party in any by-election in the UK, an election expert has said.

Prof John Curtice spoke to Andrew Neil as they crunched the numbers over other big by-election wins in history, including Simon Hughes in Bermondsey in 1983, and Winnie Ewing in Hamilton in 1967.
