BBC Rewind: Oona King loses Bethnal Green and Bow

The sitting Labour Party candidate Oona King lost her seat to George Galloway in 2005 following a controversial local campaign. Galloway had been expelled from the Labour Party in 2003 over comments made in relation to his vocal opposition to the war in Iraq. Running as part of the Respect coalition, Galloway chose to stand in the Bethnal Green and Bow constituency, which had nearly 45,000 Muslim residents and a Labour MP in King who had supported the Iraq war.
