MPs boo IPSA expenses chief's reappointment
There were boos in the House of Commons as a message from the Queen was read out confirming that Sir Ian Kennedy was being reappointed as head of the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (ISPA).
Conservative MP Anne Milton, a government whip and vice chamberlain of Her Majesty's Household, delivered the message.
While the appointment of Lord Bichard as head of the National Audit Office was greeted by respectful silence, there were pantomime-style boos and hisses audible as Sir Ian's reappointment was announced.
Sir Ian has been head of IPSA since it was set up in 2009 in the wake of the revelations about MPs abusing their expenses. Some MPs have been unhappy about the way it does its job.
