Hamilton withdraws from UKIP selection process in Essex
The former Conservative minister Neil Hamilton has withdrawn from a UKIP selection process, and suggested there is a "dirty tricks" campaign against him.
His name was on a list of those hoping to become UKIP's candidate in the Essex seat of South Basildon and East Thurrock.
Earlier a leaked letter queried his expenses claims.
Mr Hamilton says he is now backing another candidate.
