Ed Balls: 'Russell Brand is a pound shop Ben Elton'

Labour's Ed Balls has described the comedian Russell Brand as a "pound-shop Ben Elton" after the comedian insulted the shadow chancellor on Channel 4's Big Fat Anniversary Quiz.

Speaking to the BBC about Labour's election pledges, Ed Balls dubbed comedian Jo Brand "a better political commentator" than Mr Brand and admitted he "wasn't quite sure" what the insult meant.
