David Cameron: 'Child benefit will stay as it is'

David Cameron has told the BBC that he has no plans to cut child benefit if the Conservatives win the election.

"Child benefit is staying; we're keeping it, not cutting it. I believe strongly in child benefit, it's very important for families' budgets to be able to plan," Mr Cameron said.

It comes after the Lib Dems leaked a document which they claimed showed the Tories wanted to make £8bn of cuts to child benefit three years ago.
