Jim Murphy to stand down as leader of Scottish Labour

The leader of the Scottish Labour Party, Jim Murphy, is to resign following the worst electoral defeat in its history.

Mr Murphy made the announcement after narrowly surviving a vote of no confidence from the party's executive in Glasgow.

The party was all but wiped out in Scotland at the general election, having been left with just one MP.

Laura Bicker reports.
